The schedule for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in India has been revealed, along with the 10 venues where the big event will happen. This tournament will go on for 46 days starting later this year.
The World Cup starts on October 5th with a match between England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, which is a repeat of the 2019 Final.
The host country, India, starts playing on October 8th against Australia, who have won the World Cup five times, in Chennai.
A total of 10 teams will take part in this important event. The first eight teams have already qualified by doing well in the Cricket World Cup Super League. The last two spots will be decided after a tournament in Zimbabwe, which will end on July 9th.
In the tournament, each team will play against the other nine teams in a round-robin format. The top four teams from this stage will move on to the knockout stage and the semi-finals.
Key Matches In addition to the exciting opening match and India’s game against Australia, there are many other important matches in the tournament.
On October 13th, Australia will play against South Africa in Lucknow. They hope to do better this time after a close match in the last edition which South Africa won.
The much-awaited India-Pakistan match is set for October 15th in Ahmedabad. Their last match in the 2019 World Cup was a high-scoring one, with India winning a big victory.
Pakistan will face Australia in Bengaluru on October 20th, and the next day, England will play against South Africa in Mumbai.
India will compete against New Zealand on October 22nd in Dharamsala, trying to make up for their loss in the 2019 semi-finals. On November 4th, Australia will take on their rivals England in Ahmedabad. Four years ago, the defending champions defeated Australia and reached the final.
On October 29th, India will meet England again in Lucknow. England had defeated India in the semi-finals of the 2022 T20 World Cup just last year.
Knockout Stage The first semi-final will be held on November 15th in Mumbai, and the second semi-final will be the next day in Kolkata. Both semi-finals will have an extra day in case the match is postponed.
The Final match will be at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19th, with November 20th set aside in case of any delays.
All three knockout matches will be day-night games, starting at 2:00 PM local time.
