Pakistan Ahmadi Mosque: In Pakistan’s Punjab province, the Punjab Police demolished the minarets of the mosque of the minority Ahmadi community following threats of attack from the radical Islamic party TLP. Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) on Friday (July 14) asked the police to demolish the mosque.

Tehreek-e-Labbaik warned that she should demolish the minarets of the Ahmadis’ place of worship in Jehlum district of Punjab, about 225 km from Lahore, otherwise she would attack it. An official of the Punjab government gave this information to PTI on Saturday.

Police demolished the minarets of the place of worship
The police summoned Ahmadi leaders of the Kala Gujran area and asked them to demolish the minarets at their place of worship as their construction was not legally valid. He told that on Friday night a police team raided the Ahmadi’s place of worship and demolished it. Pakistan Punjab official Amir Mehmood told PTI that the campaign against Ahmadi places of worship in Jhelum was launched by TLP leader Asim Ashfaq Rizvi.

Punjab official Amir Mahmood said that Rizvi had threatened in various public meetings that if the police did not destroy Ahmadi places in Jhelum by 10th Muharram (end of July), they would attack them.

This situation is unfortunate and a clear violation of the rights of the Ahmadi community.” is a violation.”

He said that in 2014, a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Tassaduq Hussain Jilani had ordered the formation of a special police force to protect the places of worship of minorities.
